A beautiful drive through the countryside to a historical working farm was on the agenda for the day. The farm was like our Fort Edmonton park with people dressed in historic costumes and explaining how people lived in the English countryside many years prior. The farm had horses, sheep, cows, chickens and pigs. They had one calf that was tenacious. He tired eating my shirt, licked my arm then chewed on a metal sheet on the fence. He made me miss the calf’s we had growing up. We learned a little about spinning and dying wool. They used things like onion skins, acorns and fixed the color with Alum. Also learned that during WW2 they used fibers from nettles to spin a thread with similar characteristics of silk to make parachutes for the soldiers
