Today’s adventure saw us driving 2 hours on the Wild Atlantic Coastal Highway to a little town west of Galway to experience a sea weed bath. Sea weed baths are supposed to be good for the skin, help detox the body and allow for absorption of the nutrients found in sea weed through the skin.
The drive was beautiful however once we got to the islands the bridges took some bravery and faith to cross. They are one car narrow however they curve so you can’t see if anyone else is coming from the other side. If you meet someone one of you is backing up😬

We got to the island a little early so we found a beautiful spot to eat our lunch.
The sea weed bath started with the sauna to open up your pores then into the tubs. The owner cuts and washes the seaweed in the morning so it is extremely fresh. She the steeps the seaweed in hot water. She adds several varieties. One can be used as an exfoliator, and one that you can pop the airlocks like bubble wrap so you have something to do if you aren’t good at relaxing.

Once you are done with the bath -about an hour you then get some fresh fruit, a pudding made from seaweed and a glass of juice. It was an amazing experience. I wish I had access to fresh seaweed , would love to do that on a regular basis and no you don’t smell like seaweed after.
