We went to Sterling today. We did a little shopping. Our bed is not very comfortable and we will be in Scotland for a month we went and bought new pillows and a mattress topper. Have to say the sleep was much better.
We got to see a small parade through the pedestrian shopping center. I’m not sure what it was in honor of but the beginning of the parade people were dressed in old fashion farming cloths carrying pitch fork, clubs and shovels followed by a pipe band.

Next stop was the Wallace Memorial. He was instrumental in freeing his country from the rule of England. He was originally going to become a priest but after England’s army came and killed 8000 innocent people he banned together with some of Scotland Chieftains and organized an army to fight the English. It is a very interesting story. Braveheart is loosely based on this man.

Reg climbed the 243 steps to the tower. I stayed on the grounds and listened to a period actor tell the tale of William Wallace and the battles to free Scotland.

The rain cooperated and held off until we saw everything we planned It waited to downpour until we were in the comfort of the car and on our way home.
