The ferry to the island was something else. We all lined up with the cars then the loading ramps came down. All the crew started yelling rushing everyone. You had to go up the ramps, put your luggage on the shelve which didn’t have enough room all while staying out of the way of the cars. The whole time people are trying to make their way to the seating area a very loud alarm is going off as the loading ramps are coming up. The crew keeps yelling for everyone that is still finding room for their bags to move ahead as they are still on the loading ramps. Next you went up stairs to where someone was rushing you to sit down. There were assigned seats but most people just sat anywhere. A few of the ferry workers then tried to get people to move. The ferry ride was under an hour so in about 25 minutes you had to do the same thing in reverse and be standing downstairs with your luggage as they docked the boat. The vehicle were running right beside you so not only were you jammed in this line but breathing gas fumes the whole time. Kind of reminded me of the movies where they need to evacuate earth very quickly.

However that being said we docked on a picturesque island with houses stacked up the hills looking down on the turquoise water and a vibrant little harbour. Our air B&B was not too far from the port but it was straight uphill. We had a small private courtyard to relax and enjoy when the temps got below 35.
Our big adventure on Scopelos was the Mamma Mia bus tour. We saw the iconic church that Sophie got married in. There was 199 steps to get to the top. The actual wedding was filmed in another church as it was way too small to film in.

We stopped at a couple beaches. The water is just so clear and such a beautiful color. We stopped at an olive growers and saw how the olive oil was made in the past and how it is currently made with the modern machines. We got to sample some of the oil. The early harvest oil had a very strong taste and it burnt the back of the throat a bit.

The day ended with a Mamma Mia party 2 blocks from our accommodation The bar had seats set up in the walkway , the movie was playing on a wall and they played all the Mamma Mia songs which everyone sang along to. It was such a fun night.

The next day we wondered around the old port area, had some gelato, checked out an old church and listened to some live traditional music.
