Our adventures started at Zaanse Schans -The Windmill Village. It is like our Fort Edmonton park showcasing Dutch inventions and how windmills were used in industry.

We learned that the Dutch invented instant pudding, linoleum, chocolate sprinkles, premade paint and loyalty programs for grocery stores including prizes in the bottom of prepackaged food.
It was once again windy, go figure we didn’t dress for the weather even though we are in the country that has the most windmills🤦♀️ I had to buy a scarf (not much of a sacrifice as it is so soft) and Reg needed a touque.
We checked out how wooden shoes are made. Reg isn’t a fan as he can’t put his insoles in them. Notice how he chose a plain pair to try on. No bright colours or flowers for him.

We stopped in at the Cheese House and yes had some more samples. We resisted and didn’t buy more cheese however we did by a cheese topper to add a little extra to our nightly cheese sampling.

So now for the 5 lanes to sidewalk story. Reg is needing a new shaver,. He stopped at a McDonald’s to ask where he might find one. A nice young man followed him to the car and put the address into google maps. We were ready to go following all her twists and turns well we missed a turn but thought no big deal we will just go around the block. However around the block yield 5 lanes going down to one. Alright no problem there was no real traffic just bikes. We were in a pedestrian only shopping area. We proceed for a couple blocks trying to find a street out. I will say the people here are very relaxed, we got a few confused looks but not a single person yelled and most walked or rode their bikes around us. We decided to cut our losses head home and try another day. This time we will park the car and walk like a local.
