Today we traveled north of our accommodation to the Scones Palace. It was a beautifully maintained building with a prestige garden which included a hedge maze. We got to wonder around the main floor and see the room that was added to the castle to accommodate a queen’s visit. The queen needed a bedroom on the ground floor so for her to come from England to visit the highlands the palace had to build an additional to accommodate her room. She stayed 3 nights in total.

we were not allowed to take any photos inside the building. We wondered about the gardens. We tried our hand at the star shaped maze. We were doing alright until I list Reg. I wandered around and couldn’t find my way out. Reg was trying to find me and kept calling but I couldn’t hear him. I ended up texting him to come find me. After a good 15 minutes he found me. I did have a plan if he couldn’t find me though. He has find my wallet app on my phone so I was going to follow that and try to make my way out. I always thought I may not be able to find my way out of a paper bag , now I am certain I have no sense of direction. 🤦‍♀️😂 There was a fountain at the center of the maze which sadly I never made it to the middle.

Next stop was the Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier. It was located in a tiny little village. We had the best brownie , ice cream and hot chocolate. Reg said the hot chocolate was the best he has ever had. The ice cream was frozen ganache. We sampled a few of the other chocolates. They were amazing but about 2 pounds a chocolate. We may be stopping by the chocolate place one more time on our way to Inverness. Maybe a very good thing this place isn’t in Edmonton. Would be hard to resist. The chocolate lounge was decorated with themes from several children’s stories but in a very grown up style. They had one area for Alice in wonderland and then Mr Toads Wild Ride.

We drove home through the most beautiful countryside as google maps took us on a different route. The roads were narrow. Everything was good until we had to cross a bridge. The bridge had a sign saying private and use at own risk. It would have been over an hour to turn around. The bridge did look a bit sketchy with the grass growing up between the boards however we took a chance. Longest 100 feet in my life but we made it only to see a bridge closed, danger sign on the other side.
